How are you different from retreats that focus primarily on rest and time alone?

While we appreciate the tremendous value of ministries that provide retreats for ministry couples to get away on their own, our passion is to come alongside couples in ways that go beyond spiritual refreshment to offer spiritual guidance. We combine time for solitude and reflection with an opportunity to build a lasting friendship with a mentoring ministry couple who has “been in the trenches.” We listen to and enter into your story, facilitating and guiding you through a process designed to deepen your intimacy with Christ and one another as a couple. It is our expectation that our time together will foster within you a deeper intimacy with Christ and with one another as a couple.

Why 4-day retreats with only one couple at a time?

Having intensely researched and studied many different models for soul-care, we resolved to use primarily a 3-night, 4-day retreat with 6-month follow up model. We chose this model for two reasons. One, it allows us to focus on you, your needs and concerns, while keeping our eye on our most important need, that of intimacy with Jesus. Secondly, it allows us to work together during the 6-month follow-up period to implement the changes you determine are most important for your spiritual life, relationships, and ministry.

What do I receive during the retreat and what can I expect to get out of it?

You will receive 3 nights/4-days at the beautiful Grace Adventure House, a 5-star apartment in enchanting Port Washington, Wisconsin, a welcome dinner, morning coffee, and 2-3 hours of daily spiritual guidance with your retreat leaders, Dave and Sarah Hall. You will have plenty of time to simply rest, read, take a walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline just a 5 minute walk away or explore one of the many local parks, restaurants and shops. Some of our time together will be spent outdoors in the beauty of God’s creation.

Can I safely talk about issues I’m not able to share with ministry colleagues or my organizational leadership?

It is very important to us that you feel you are in a safe environment where you can share freely whatever is on your heart. Both your attendance and what you choose to share with us are confidential unless your express permission is obtained. The only exception to this would be if you are in danger of harming yourself or others.

What is the purpose and schedule of the 6-month follow-up?

Our desire is to make ourselves available for a 90 minute skype call each month for 6 months after the retreat. There will be assigned reading and listening based upon the changes you determine are most important for your spiritual life, relationships and ministry. Our prayer is that you will fully invest yourself in the materials and mentoring offered.

How much does a retreat cost?

Cost for the 4-day Grace Adventure Retreat varies depending on time of year. It is based on a combination of the price of renting the apartment and our sessions together. Apartment rental rates run anywhere from $65/night in the winter months to $125/night in the summer. Our four sessions together (lasting anywhere between 2-3 hours each day) are given on a donation basis. The average donation for these 4 sessions is $125 per session or $500.

• Apartment rental (3 nights @ $65 plus cleaning and taxes) = $290 (approx.)
• 4 mentoring sessions @ $125                                                           = $500
                                                                                                Grand Total = $790

We are a faith-based ministry and are trusting Jesus to meet both our needs and those of Grace Adventure and the Grace Adventure House. We do not want you to be deprived this opportunity simply due to financial hardship.
